A new perfume on sale at Harvey Nichols (£76) is described by its makers Etat Libre d'Orange as "subversive" and "disturbing". If I now explain it contains blood, sweat, saliva and sperm you may understand how apt these descriptions are. Perhaps one not for Mothering Sunday then.
The perfume is called Secretions Magnifiques and is being marketed as an alternative to more traditional perfumes. The blurb behind the perfume is a bit technical (aka not understanding a word of it) for me but this is what they say;
"Like blood, sweat, sperm and saliva Secretions Magnifiques is as real as an olfactory coitus that sends one into raptures, to be the pinnacle of sensual pleasure. Tounges and sexes find one another and all goes wild."
Say what?... Thankfully the perfume also contains the sandalwood and coconut like that helps considering the other ingredients!
Want to smell of Cigarettes?
If Secretions Magnifiques is not quite to your liking then you can opt for Jasmin et Cigarette which smells of Jasmin and Cigarettes - slightly better but not much.
Buy them here.
Harvey Nichols insist that these products do well in their niche fragrance market although I am not sure if by this they simply mean that these new products are an excellent source of PR. Which to be fair they very clearly are.
Personally if you want to smell "different" then stick to the classic weird smells from the Demeter Fragrance Library which are a lot cheaper and contain nicer smells such as fresh grass, play dough, birthday cake, greenhouse, mushroom, sticky toffee pudding, Scottish shortbread and erm funeral home...
